Billie Eilish Mourns Beloved Dog Pepper
Billie Eilish is mourning the loss of her beloved dog, Pepper. The 21-year-old singer took to Instagram on Sunday to share a tribute to her furry friend, who she said died at the age of 15.
“Pepper. My life long best friend,” Eilish wrote. “I will see you again someday sweet girl. You made it 15 years you f–king beast. :’) I love you. Rest easy mama, I’ll miss you forever. This is a really hard day.”
Eilish shared a series of photos of Pepper, including one of the dog as a puppy and another of the two of them cuddling on the couch. She also posted a video of Pepper wagging her tail and playing with a ball.
The singer’s fans and friends took to the comments section to offer their condolences. “I’m so sorry for your loss,” Demi Lovato wrote. “Pepper was such a good girl.”
“I’m heartbroken for you,” Katy Perry commented. “Pepper was such a special part of your life.”
Eilish’s brother, Finneas, also shared a tribute to Pepper on Instagram. “Sweet pepper,” he wrote. “Our dog has, at the ripe old age of 15, transcended her mortal form. A good, good dog who gave our family so much love and was loved by us all in equal measure.”
Pepper’s death comes just days after Eilish released her new single, “Lost Cause.” The song is about finding strength in solitude and refusing to conform to societal expectations.
In the song, Eilish sings, “I’m not a bad girl, I’m just not your type.” She also sings, “I’m not a good girl, but I’m not a bad one either.”
The song’s message of self-acceptance is a fitting tribute to Pepper, who was a beloved member of Eilish’s family. Pepper’s death is a sad loss, but Eilish’s fans can take comfort in knowing that she will always cherish the memories she shared with her furry friend.
