Olivia Rodrigo Announces Next ‘Guts’ Single ‘Bad Idea Right?’
Olivia Rodrigo is back with new music! The 20-year-old pop star announced on Monday (August 7) that her next single, “Bad Idea Right?”, will be released this Friday (August 11). The song will be the second single from her upcoming sophomore album, “Guts”, which is scheduled to be released on September 8.
Rodrigo shared a blurry photo of herself posing behind a glass wall, the song’s title written in front of her face in red lipstick, to announce the single. She captioned the post, “bad idea right? this friday❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹”
In an email to fans, Rodrigo said that she is “so stoked” to share “Bad Idea Right?” with them. She described the song as “pretty different from vampire & shows another side of GUTS that’s a little more fun & playful.” She added, “cannot wait to share it with you alllllll. love to ya always!”
“Bad Idea Right?” follows lead single “Vampire”, which Rodrigo released on June 24th. The rock opera-inspired single debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the Grammy winner’s third song to reach the chart’s summit after Sour’s “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”
“Guts” is the follow-up to Rodrigo’s record-breaking debut album, Sour, which was released in May 2021. Sour was a critical and commercial success, winning three Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Vocal Album and Best New Artist.
The album was praised for its raw emotion and vulnerability, and it quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. Sour spawned a number of hit singles, including “Drivers License”, “Good 4 U”, and “Traitor”.
