The Rock Ruled Out of Playing Kratos in Live Action God of War Series

KISS | September 19, 2023

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been ruled out of playing Kratos in the upcoming live-action God of War series.

The news was confirmed by director of the 2018 God of War game Cory Barlog, who responded to a fan on Twitter who asked if Johnson would be playing Kratos. Barlog simply said: “I have literally never heard anything about this.”

This is a disappointment to many fans, who had been hoping to see Johnson bring his trademark charisma and physicality to the role of Kratos. However, it is understandable that the producers of the series would want to cast an actor who is more physically imposing and can convincingly portray Kratos’ rage and brutality.

There are a number of other actors who could be considered for the role of Kratos. Some fans have suggested Jason Momoa, who has the physical presence and acting chops to pull off the role. Others have suggested Christopher Judge, who voiced Kratos in the games.

Ultimately, the decision of who will play Kratos will be up to the producers of the series. However, it is clear that they have a tough task ahead of them, as Kratos is one of the most iconic characters in video game history.

The live-action God of War series is currently in development for Amazon Prime Video. It is expected to premiere in 2024.

In the meantime, fans can still enjoy the games, which are available on PlayStation consoles.

The God of War games are a critically acclaimed series that has won numerous awards. They are known for their epic story, visceral combat, and stunning visuals.

The live-action series is expected to be a faithful adaptation of the games, and it is sure to be a hit with fans.
