WGA Reaches Tentative Deal With AMPTP After Five-Month Strike

KISS | September 26, 2023

After a five-month strike, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has finally reached a tentative deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The deal, which still needs to be ratified by the WGA’s membership, includes a number of wins for the writers, including higher pay, better streaming residuals, and more diversity in the industry.

The strike was the longest in WGA history, and it had a major impact on the entertainment industry. Many TV shows were delayed or cancelled altogether, and there was a growing concern that the strike would drag on into the fall TV season.

But now, it seems like the writers have finally gotten the deal they deserve. And that’s good news for everyone involved, including fans, actors, and producers.

Here are some entertaining ways to celebrate the end of the WGA strike:

  • Throw a “Writers Are Back” party and invite all of your friends who work in the entertainment industry.
  • Watch your favourite TV shows that were delayed or cancelled during the strike.
  • Write a fan letter to your favourite writer and thank them for their work.
  • Start a new writing project of your own.
  • Donate to a charity that supports writers, such as the Writers Guild Foundation or the National Writers Union.

But seriously, we are very excited to see the writers back at work. They are the ones who make our favourite TV shows and movies possible, and we are grateful for their dedication to their craft.
