Here We Go Again! Mamma Mia, It’s-a Me, a New Mario Movie!
Get ready for another round of “It’s-a me, a Mario!” because on this glorious Mario Day (March 10th, for the uninitiated), Nintendo and Illumination dropped a bombshell bigger than a Bowser fireball: a new Super Mario Bros. movie is on the way!
That’s right, folks! Fresh off the heels of the first film’s record-breaking success (seriously, it raked in more moolah than a Goomba horde!), our favorite mustachioed plumber is gearing up for another big-screen adventure.
The announcement came during Nintendo’s special Mario Day Direct, and let’s-a go over the juicy details! Shigeru Miyamoto himself, the legendary creator of Mario, graced us with the news. He promised a brand new story that will “broaden Mario’s world further,” which has fans speculating like crazy. Will we finally see a DK Crew cameo? Will we get a deep dive into the lore of the Mushroom Kingdom? Only time will tell!
Here’s what we do know: the all-star team behind the first movie is returning. The directors, Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, are back at the helm, while Illumination founder Chris Meledandri joins forces with Miyamoto to produce. With this dream team in place, you can bet your Koopa shell this new movie will be a cinematic masterpiece…of plumbing proportions!
The wait might be a bit long, though. The movie is set to hit theaters on April 3rd, 2026. That’s two whole years of waiting, which feels like an eternity for a hungry gamer. But hey, at least it gives us plenty of time to perfect our Luigi cosplay and practice our best “Wahoo!”
So there you have it, folks! A new Mario movie is on the horizon, promising even more laughs, thrills, and, of course, plenty of princess-rescuing action. Mark your calendars, grab your lucky power star, and get ready to join Mario on his next epic adventure! Let’s-a go!
