Tom Cruise Hangs Off Plane in Death-Defying Stunt for New “Mission: Impossible” Movie

KISS | July 19, 2024

Hold onto your hats, action movie fans! Tom Cruise, notorious for performing his own stunts,  has taken things to new heights (or should we say lows?) in the filming of the latest “Mission:  Impossible” movie. Photos and videos circulating online show Cruise dangling precariously from a bright yellow airplane, seemingly without a parachute.

The stunt, filmed in Oxfordshire, England, reportedly involves Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt,  engaged in a fight scene with another actor inside the aircraft. As the plane flips upside down,  Cruise is left hanging from the exterior, sending shivers down the spines of viewers and crew alike.

Details about the context of the scene and how the stunt was achieved remain under wraps.  However, the visuals speak for themselves. Cruise, known for his dedication to his craft and his willingness to push boundaries, has once again defied expectations.

This isn’t the first time Cruise has taken his stunts to heart-stopping extremes. Past “Mission:  Impossible” films have seen him scaling the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, clinging to the side of a moving airplane, and even performing a HALO jump (high-altitude, low-opening parachute jump).

While some praise Cruise’s commitment and the undeniable thrill his stunts bring to the franchise, others express concern for his safety. The potential dangers of such high-risk maneuvers are undeniable, and some critics argue that relying on CGI for certain scenes would be a safer alternative.

Regardless of the debate, there’s no denying that Cruise’s dedication to performing his own stunts is a major selling point for the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. The new film, titled “Mission:  Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” is scheduled for release in July 2023. With this daring mid-air stunt generating significant buzz, one thing’s for sure: Ethan Hunt’s next mission is guaranteed to be an edge-of-your-seat experience.
