‘Snow White’ Live-Action Reviews Nuked by IMDb Users

KISS | March 31, 2025

Disney’s live-action Snow White has been bombarded with negative IMDb ratings, reaching an
unprecedented low of 1.5/10 from over 227,000 users. With 91.1% of votes being 1-star ratings,
the film has been review-bombed to one of the worst scores in IMDb history, ranking lower than
notorious flops like Battlefield Earth and Dragonball Evolution. While the film received mixed
critical reviews, with a Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 41%, its audience rating on the same
platform sits at 74%, suggesting a more balanced reception. Unlike IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes
verifies audience ratings, reducing the impact of mass-downvoting campaigns. The backlash
against Snow White appears to be less about the film itself and more about lead actress Rachel
Zegler, who has faced online harassment over her race, past interviews, and political
statements. A recent Variety report revealed that a Disney producer asked Zegler to remove a
“Free Palestine” tweet, which she refused. Despite the controversy, many critics argue that
Zegler is the film’s strongest asset. Whether Snow White will overcome this wave of negativity
remains to be seen, but its IMDb score highlights how online campaigns can shape public
perception, regardless of a movie’s actual quality.
