Snoop Dogg scraps Hollywood Bowl shows in support of strikes
Snoop Dogg has scrapped his upcoming Hollywood Bowl shows in support of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.
The iconic rapper took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce the cancellation. “I’m sorry to inform my fans that my Hollywood Bowl shows have been canceled,” he said. “I stand in solidarity with the writers and actors who are fighting for their rights.”
Snoop Dogg’s shows were scheduled to take place on June 26 and 27. The cancellation is a major blow to the Hollywood Bowl, which was counting on the rapper’s popularity to sell tickets.
The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes have been ongoing since May. The strikes are over issues such as pay equity, residuals, and healthcare.
Snoop Dogg is not the only celebrity who has canceled shows in support of the strikes. Other stars who have canceled include Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, and Alec Baldwin.
The strikes have had a significant impact on the entertainment industry. Many productions have been delayed or canceled, and some actors and writers have lost their jobs.
It is unclear how long the strikes will last. However, Snoop Dogg’s cancellation is a sign that the strikes are having a real impact on the industry.
In addition to canceling his shows, Snoop Dogg has also donated money to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike funds. He is urging his fans to do the same.
“We need to stand together and support our brothers and sisters in the entertainment industry,” he said. “This is a fight for our rights, and we can’t afford to lose.”
