Drake Soaked: Toronto Mansion Floods During Record Rainfall

KISS | July 17, 2024

Rapper Drake found himself dealing with an unexpected flow problem this week as heavy rains lashed Toronto, causing significant flooding across the city. Drake took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday to share a video showing the unwelcome current running through his opulent abode, aptly nicknamed “The Embassy” by fans.

The brief clip offered a glimpse of murky water flooding a luxurious-looking room, with furniture legs submerged and plush carpets turning into a watery mess. Amidst the chaos, someone, presumably a member of Drake’s team, can be seen valiantly attempting to contain the deluge with what appears to be a broom.

Drake himself displayed surprising humour in the face of the watery invasion. He captioned the video with a playful, “This better be Espresso Martini,” referencing the trendy coffee-liqueur cocktail, perhaps a nod to the unwelcome “shot” of reality intruding on his luxurious lifestyle.

The flooding wasn’t just a celebrity inconvenience. Toronto experienced record rainfall on Tuesday, surpassing the daily record previously set in 1941. The downpour overwhelmed drainage systems, leading to widespread flooding that impacted roads, highways, and homes throughout the city. Authorities reported hundreds of thousands left without power and some residents stranded or requiring rescue.

While Drake’s experience undoubtedly caused some disruption and likely a hefty repair bill, his lighthearted response offered a welcome dose of humour amidst the city’s struggles. Social media, however, wasn’t all lighthearted. Some fans couldn’t resist poking fun at the rapper, referencing his past lyrics or ongoing feuds.

One user jokingly tweeted, “Looks like Drake finally got caught in a downpour he couldn’t buy his way out of.” Regardless of the online commentary, the incident serves as a reminder of the power of extreme weather events, even for celebrities living in luxury homes.
